About Teens Giving BackTeens Giving Back has been involved in Atascadero and the surrounding community since 2009, and joined the Atascadero Greyhound Foundation in 2015.
This organization has given Atascadero High School students an opportunity to not only give back to their community but also learn leadership skills and understand community involvement at a completely different level. Students enjoy the varied opportunities that Teens Giving Back offers, and have contributed to many organizations in the community. The most anticipated event of the year for Teens Giving Back is Operation Surf. Operation Surf is dedicated to helping our recently wounded soldiers heal through surfing. TGB volunteers arrive early, set up the site and begin helping the wounded down to the beach. They spend the rest of the day on alert when the new surfers come in and are in need of a special wheelchair, a towel, blanket, or just someone to talk to.
The opportunities are continually growing as more and more organizations reach out to us for help with their events. Volunteering with Teens Giving Back is open for any student, although we have found groups of students that have continued to volunteer over the years, such as:
